Alderson Broaddus University is a new varsity rugby program offering rugby scholarship opportunities to both men and women located in Philippi, WV. These scholarships can be stacked with academic scholarships awarded by the university. AB’s rugby program is fully recognized by the athletic department and is staffed with full-time coaches.

To be considered for an AB rugby scholarship, students must complete the free online application, please be sure to submit transcripts and test scores. Update Head Coach John Baker when the application is submitted in order to move the financial aid process forward.

Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) rugby was founded in 1974. For years we have had a long tradition of excellence. Currently under the leadership of Dr. Bouma and former IUP graduate Seth Erwin (07), the team competes in the National Collegiate Rugby D2 Division. 

Being the first club sport at IUP to offer scholarships, we have named our scholarship after long time coach Dr. Larry Bouma.

Dr. Lawrence Bouma began playing rugby in 1967 while attending Palmer College of Chiropractic and played on Palmer's first national championship team before graduating in 1971.  

In 1988, Dr. Bouma started coaching IUP rugby for the next 17 years taking IUP to national prominence from 1988 to 2004. In 2000 IUP Rugby finished #4 in the nation, it's highest until 2022 where IUP won a Division II 7s title and finished 2nd in Division II 15s.

The University of Rio Grande is located in Rio Grande, OH. RGU is a NAIA institution that is both a community college as well as a University. Fully supported by the institution, Rio has created a Varsity model program for both Men’s and Women’s rugby. Offering reduced rates for all OH residents and select counties in KY and WV. 

Rio also offers rugby specific scholarships that are stacked on top of institutional and federal grants. On campus Rio has designated rugby facilities with plans to expand. All student-athletes have access to full time coaching, strength & conditioning, financial aid, academic counseling, and athletic training.
